One day, the Universe said to me, “I am the Universe. I will give you what you ask for.”
That same day, I submitted a request in writing. I wrote: I would like Giovanni to call me immediately, take me out for a romantic dinner tonight, and fall in love with me before the evening ends.
Nothing happened.
I kindly inquired the next day.
“I will give you what you ask for…or something greater,” said the Universe.
“Oh, I didn’t catch that last part,” I said.
“I am abundant,” said the Universe. “If you demand something specific and it doesn’t happen, I have bigger, grander plans for you.”
I waited patiently. Weeks, months, years went by, and still no Giovanni.
I inquired again.
“I am abundant,” said the Universe. “But we’re running low on Giovannis. How about a Tom?”
“That’ll work,” I said.
